After paying out a £10 to someone to cover my child care duties today I was a bit desperate for a sail, but alas I remain desperate. Went to Bradfield with Ian and Pete around 2pm the tide was well in so just needed wind. The dirt track down Shore Lane is dire with potholes, then I missed the field turning, so had to reverse the trailer a long way back down the narrow lane, part destroying my clutch, which stunk to high heaven. The entry to the field had 2 more massive pot hole and I again I was stuck in them and yep the clutch was burning again. The car still smells now.
Ian wobbled out in the N or swing NW wind which was onshore mainly, but it was around 10kts. I should have gone home, but there was some gusts to tempt, but swing from North to NWest. Rigged 8.6 Gaastra Savage set like my belly, whilst Pete decided to have a kip in his motorhome.
Light weight Ian was planning on every gust, the little bugger whilst I had to stay on my toes all afternoon just to plane on the puffs, It was very frustrating as I needed just a couple of knots to stay on the plane. Weather was cloudy and cool and I could have used the long board which would have been perfect but I just could not be bothered. Stayed out a couple of hours, Pete ventured out to nothing as the wind continued to tempt.
The day was 5 star for Ian but I should have gone to gym. I had to jet wash the mud off the car in the dark as well due to having some brakes work done early Sat. Crap day really but I did plane a few times and Bradfield is pretty open with the possibility of some good runs to Wrabness, def better than Levington.
